MIA PALENCIA

In a quiet and picturesque city by the sea, this internationally-acclaimed singer songwriter has been taking time out of her typically busy performing schedule to write copious amounts of music. After a solid ten-year illustrious career in the Malaysian music scene, it was the right time to sink her teeth into the Singer Songwriting program at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Tasmania. From this glorious phase of creation, she hopes to soon emerge with a new bag of songs and stories.

Hold

“This song is almost an anti-love song love song, inspired by a beautiful chapter in Kahlil Gibran’s book, The Prophet.”

Try Angles

“I’ve written numerous songs about going round in circles, a terribly annoying habit of mine. In this one, I thought it would be fun to explore geometric shapes.”

Sayang

“‘Sayang’ is a Malay term of endearment. I have yet to successfully translate its graceful meaning into English. Suffice it to say that this is a song about liberation.”
